IID, CVM, iPBS, and WSU

The Immunology and Infectious Diseases (IID) graduate program in the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) at Washington State University (WSU) offers a supportive training environment for individuals seeking graduate-level training in infectious disease research. Trainees joining the

Omsland Lab benefit from a supportive training environment that is academically flexible, rigorous, contemporary, and intellectually challenging. Graduate students apply via the CVM umbrella graduate program, Integrated Program in Biomedical Sciences (iPBS).

Training philosophy

As a mentor, my responsibility is to prepare trainees for a successfully transition to the next stage of their careers. To this end, I strive to offer both exciting and demanding research projects the

execution of which will ensure hands-on training with a wide range of research techniques, development of skills in scientific writing, seminar presentation, to highlight the core objectives.

The Allen Center for Global Health

The Allen Center for Global Health is a state of the art research facility housing several research laboratories broadly focused on infectious disease research. With expertise in epidemiology, antimicrobial resistance, vector-borne diseases,

bacterial physiology, innate immunity, and virology, trainees will benefit from working in a scientifically diverse environment with opportunity for exposure to distinct yet related fields of infectious disease research.
